St Ishmael was a Cornish saint and a disciple of St David, the patron saint of Wales. He established a church at the village of St Ishmaels which you can see on a clear day across Carmarthen Bay. This atmospheric large double room has an impressive double height ceiling, but only a little natural light. There is a very good reason for this. It is situated in what was the ballroom of Brown's Hotel; a space that saw parties, celebrations, dances, weddings: every kind of social gathering from the mid 18th century right up until the 1980s.
